What should I do if my vehicle is damaged by hail?

Contact your car insurance provider online to get your claim # if auto hail damage repair is covered in your policy. Every insurance company handles hail claims differently. Call Us if you do not know where to start the claim process. Make an appointment to have our insurance adjuster estimate damage and delivery your complimentary rental. Clean the exterior of your vehicle to ensure that the best estimate can be given. Depending on the severity of the storm and the damage to your vehicle, repair times can vary. For light to moderate hail damage repair, it may take 1 to 3 days, but for severe damage that needs our conventional repairs, for panel replacement and paintwork. The repairs may take 10-14 days.

Will my car insurance rates go up if I report auto hail damage?

No. Hail damage is a comprehensive claim meaning it is a no-fault claim. The average cost for hail damage repair can be more than $1,000. Luckily, it is treated as a no-fault or “Act of God” claim by the insurance companies. Your rates will not increase due to a hail damage claim. Insurance will not cover hail damage if you have liability-only coverage.

Hail Restore is approved by all insurance providers.

How much time should I allow for a hail estimate?

A standard hail estimate time takes about 30-45 minutes. During this time, the estimator follows a specific format of identifying the severity and quantity of dents on all panels. In addition, the estimator communicates with you to answer all questions you may have about the repair and obtains all accurate vehicle information.

Should I wait for the next hailstorm?

Damage from two hail storms can total a car that could have withstood one at a time.

No, you should not wait for the next hailstorm

to hit before getting your vehicle repaired.

Why is a clean vehicle important for a hail repair estimate?

A clean vehicle allows the estimator to see the hail damage clearly. Dust and dirt can often mask hail damage, causing inaccurate estimates and delays in the paintless dent repair process.

What does pre-loss condition mean for auto hail damage?

Pre-loss condition is the condition of a vehicle prior to auto hail damage including damage not caused by the hail storm. Damage that is not hail-related will not be covered on the repair. At the time of the estimate, photos will be taken of the vehicle and any of these conditions will be noted in the hail repair estimate.

What if you're told a supplement is needed to repair the auto hail damage?

This means that additional operations, parts, or repair needs are necessary to complete the repair of the vehicle above the original estimate. In some cases, the original estimate is insufficient to perform the repairs. When a vehicle is dropped off for repairs, a second inspection is done to determine if all of the damage was documented for repair. If all damage was found and written on the original estimate, no supplement is needed. However, if some damage was overlooked on the original estimate, a “supplement” is needed to document the necessary operations or parts needed to properly repair the vehicle. If a supplement is required, it may extend the time period needed to repair your vehicle. The supplement will be explained to the customer along with an adjusted pick-up date.

Do I have to use the direct repair body shop the insurance company recommends?

No. By law, you have the right to take the vehicle to the shop of your choosing. Just because an insurance company pushes a paintless dent repair facility at you doesn’t mean that their repairs are any better or that they have a better warranty than anyone else. In fact, 95% of the repairs taken to body shops or dealerships, etc., are outsourced to companies like Hail Restore.

I don't know if you work with my insurance.

At Hail Restore We work with all auto insurance companies. You can take your vehicle anywhere. Insurance companies may recommend one of their preferred body shops for auto hail repair. However, this does not mean you have to bring your vehicle there. Oftentimes, the wait time will be much longer or they do not use paintless dent repair to fix your vehicle.

What if I decide to keep my insurance check and not repair my vehicle?

Should something ever happen to the areas that suffered hail damage the insurance company paid to repair, and you did not repair them, the insurance company may deduct the amount previously paid to repair the hail damage from your second claim. That check may look nice now, but if you leased your vehicle it is in your contract that you are responsible for all damage. If you turn it back in with hail damage then you will have to pay for it out of pocket. If you trade in your vehicle you may only receive half or less of the actual vehicle value. A restoration for “unrepaired damage” may be in effect on your insurance policy.
